A small victory......

We had the follow up visit with the surgeon, Dr. Mitchell, today - just to check and make sure she healed properly - which she did.

He thanked me for my 'package' - I copied him on the original complaint which was a fairly large document. AND he told me that he and Dr. Steed have been requested to present their research into chronic appendicitis to a group of physicians at Alberta Children's Hospital. This was one of the things I requested in the complaint.

I'm still waiting for the official response from Alberta Health but it sounds like maybe we made a bit of a dent in their rigid stance against chronic appendicitis.

  1. I read this article regarding an appendectomy and just sighed! So you're expecting a professional and written response from Alberta Health? Don't hold your breath, they're a joke, my wife had an appendectomy in January 2010 and you can read the whole shocking and disgusting story here:

    1. Wow! Thanks for sharing your story. I'm glad you found a solution. I know how exhausting/devastating this must have been for you and your family. It's now almost a year since my daughter's surgery and she is fine and we are so grateful we solved it but I don't think we will ever fully trust the so-called experts again. I remain disgusted by AHS default to 'pain management' in the absence of a firm diagnosis as I'm sure do you. All the best to you and your family.

    2. Hi Susan,

Many thanks for your good wishes, and I'm so glad your daughter is okay.

Isn't it absolutely disgusting when YOU have to get it solved yourself? Especially when you see Alison Redford address the province stating what a "World Class Healthcare" Alberta has - what a joke! There's no way she would have been treated like your daughter or my wife - I have read so many stories of people at the hands of Alberta Healthcare and its frightening - literally frightening!

So glad things worked out for you and your family - let me know if you get a reply from Alberta Health - email me through the webpage link above...

      Regards

      Gary
